Tipples, Drams and Libations

Welcome, welcome!  I finally decided to get this ball rolling and show what I have been up to.  My main goal with creating a blog is to basically present my culinary and cocktail creations or inventions so to speak….although they’ve all probably been done somewhere or at sometime.  Most of my inspiration comes from a lot of local bartenders and chefs, but also some from the past, especially Jerry Thomas as of right now.  Currently I’m reading Imbibe, which is amazing and I just finished Cocktail Hour and another N.Y.C. cocktail book.

I’m fortunate enough to work in a bar where I can use all the fresh, organic ingredients that I want and my managers and chef’s will order me anything I need.  A lot of the time I bring my own booze, bitters and syrups in.  Thanks to Johnny Walker in San Francisco and Ledger’s in Berkeley, I can buy pretty much any spirit in the world!

Most recently I’ve been using Hibiscus infused vodka, clementine marmalades and syrups, lavender and chocolate mole bitters and a lot of Demerara and Honey syrups.

Whenever I can update the blog, I most certainly will.  I’ll definitely post pictures of my food and beverages that I do.  If anyone has questions, feel free to ask away….not saying I’ll know the answer, but i’ll try my best. Thanks for reading!

  1. Hey Brian. Great website. Quick question:

What’s a simple drink to make at home for a novice drink mixer that is still impressive for guests?

    • There’s actually quite a few simple cocktails that you only need a couple of ingredients for. Gimlets are tasty, Manhattan’s, I also love the Martinez (which you can either use sweet vermouth or dry vermouth in it). These are all simple to make and super tasty classic drinks! Cheers buddy

  2. Congrats Brian!! Great start, can’t wait for more!

  3. This looks delicious! I have a blog too! The food is not as quite as extravagant as yours, but I might share some of your recipes on there.
